Welcome to the LAcon V Travel Guide: a complete guide to traveling to, and around, LAcon V! You’ll find directions to our location, along with hints on traveling by air, by train, local and cross-country bus service, taxi service, car rental services and shuttles. Travel By Car

  • From points south, take the I-5 North, exit Katella Avenue and turn left. Turn left on Harbor Blvd, then right on Convention Way. The Hilton is on the right, the Marriott is on the left.
  • From LAX and points north, take the I-405 south to the 22 East. Exit Harbor Blvd. North. Travel 4 miles to Convention Way and turn left. The Hilton is on the right, the Marriott is on the left.
  • From central/northern California. take I-5 south. Exit Harbor Blvd. South. Travel about 2 miles to Convention Way and turn right. The Hilton is on the right, the Marriott is on the left.

Travel By Air

Anaheim, our site for the 2026 Worldcon, is served by five airports:

The closest are John Wayne/Orange County (SNA) and Long Beach (LGB) at approximately 11 and 18 miles, respectively. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), by far the largest, and Ontario Airport (ONT) are the farthest away at about 35 miles. Between these four, you can get here from pretty much anywhere. In addition, Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) has the unique distinction of being the only airport in L.A. or Orange County with a train station next to it.

Airport Shuttles

Airport shuttle services include the following:

All shuttles require at least a 24-hour advance reservation.

The Anaheim Marriott and the Anaheim Hilton do NOT have hotel shuttles. The hotels are located at 700 West Convention Way and 777 West Convention Way respectively. The are the LAcon V hotels and are next to the Anaheim Convention Center.

LAcon V in Anaheim is located approximately 20 minutes from John Wayne/Orange County Airport, 45 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport, and 45 minutes from Ontario Airport. Shuttle services operate from the airports to the Hilton Anaheim and Anaheim Marriott. You must make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance, and then call them again after you pick up your bags. Call or check their website(s) to determine rates for the airport you’re using.

There is a new hourly shuttle between our LAcon V Worldcon hotels and SNA (John Wayne Airport). Cost for adults is $20 one way and $35 round trip, plus processing fees. You will need to buy your ticket in advance online @ https://myhmrbus.com/sna/ . If you use a wheelchair or need extra assistance while boarding, contact the HMR 24/7 dispatch team before your trip. Car Rental

A list of rent-a-car agencies with offices in the area. Most of them also have offices at the airports. The hotels charge for parking. If you can hold off renting your car until after you’ve been in town a few days it may be more cost-effective.

Taxi Services

Links for airport-related taxi information:

Numerous taxicab services serve the airports. Many of them will quote a flat rate from the airport to the Anaheim hotels. (Note that it’s usually more expensive to be picked up at the airport than to be dropped off there, because of fees imposed on the taxicab companies by the airports.) A taxi could be a good option, if you are travelling with a group that can split the cost.

Local Bus Services

Bus Stops

Anaheim has lots of green metal or metal-and-wood bus benches all over the city. In the Anaheim Resort District, they have a shade shelter over them. Some are for ART, some for OCTA (see below), some for MTA (L.A. County), some for all three. Check the signs before sitting down and waiting.

Orange County

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) operates busses in Orange County, including Anaheim. LAcon V is near the Katella-Harbor Boulevard bus stop. The Harbor Blvd. bus (north-south) is Route 43 Fullerton – Costa Mesa; the Katella bus (east-west) is Route 50 Long Beach – Orange. Other routes are also available.

Bus fare

Starting October 15, 2025 paper passes are no longer sold onboard busses. OCTA will be using WAVE cards.

Cash will still be accepted for single rides (no transfers) with exact amount only, fareboxes can’t make change. Cash fare is $0.75 Senior 60+ & Disabled (with valid IDs as per OCTA website), $2.00 (ages 59 – 6), Free (5 and under).

WAVE cards and the WAVE app will be used for One Day passes, valid until 2:59 am the following day of purchase/use. Current prices are $1.35 Senior 60+ & Disabled (with valid IDs as per OCTA website), $4.50 (ages 59 – 6), Free (5 and under). [Info as of Sept. 2025]

OCTA buses have bike racks and wheelchair lifts.

Los Angeles County

Some routes operated by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA, aka Metro) stretch down into Anaheim. Please note that not every OCTA bus stop will also be an MTA bus stop.

Cross Country Buses

The Greyhound Bus stops at the ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center). Check the Greyhound website for special discounts.

ARTIC is located at 2626 E Katella, Anaheim, CA.

Travel By Train

Outside Anaheim, places you might want to visit:

LAcon V is in Anaheim, about 35 miles South of Los Angeles. Anaheim is in Orange county.

ARTIC

Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, better known as the ARTIC provides rail, bus, taxi, and other services for daily commuters, visitors, and leisure travelers. Here you’ll find details on transit services, parking information, and directions on how to get to Anaheim.

ARTIC is located at 2626 E Katella, Anaheim, CA. There are regular bus lines to near the LAcon V hotels. The ART bus from the ARTIC Center goes to Disneyland, it does not stop at the Convention Center, however, you can transfer at Disneyland to a bus (the Grand Plaza Line) that drops you in front of the Anaheim Marriott/Hilton Anaheim hotels for LAcon V. Shuttle Service to Anaheim Marriott/Hilton Anaheim is available at the ARTIC but must be scheduled by you. See our Shuttles page for shuttle service phone numbers.

Amtrak

The American passenger railroad, Amtrak (no ‘c’ in Amtrak) offers short and long-distance service. It is important to note that taking the train will not necessarily be cheaper than flying or faster than driving/taking the bus, but it may be less stressful, and probably more scenic.

Amtrak has fares that get you discounted coach service – Multi-Ride Pass, USA Rail Pass, or California Rail Pass for a reasonable price. The catch is that you’re traveling coach, and that a bunk (roomettes, etc.) cost extra. If you can handle sleeping in a seat, it’s more comfortable than air travel by a long shot.

The “Coast Starlight” is the very popular coastal train that runs from Seattle down to Los Angeles, where you would transfer to another train to get to Anaheim. Please be aware that the Coast Starlight sells out early. You’ll want to make your reservations as early as you possibly can.

If you call Amtrak, (800-USA-RAIL, or 800-762-7245) and ask how to get to Disneyland, they will tell you to take the train to the ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center).

Metrolink

Metrolink runs approximately 538 route-miles in Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernadino, Riverside and San Diego counties and serves dozens of cities and communities.

Combining Trains and Planes

If you have an urge to fly into California and take a train from the airport to Anaheim, you need to fly into Burbank. Burbank is the only Southern California airport with an active Amtrak station next to it.

Other Rail Services in Southern California

In addition to Amtrak, Metrolink serves Orange County. Metro System only operates in Los Angeles County, and the Coaster runs in San Diego County.
