Help send fans around the world!

The fan funds, which started in the 1950s, are a fannish cultural exchange program that send fans from one geographic area as ambassadors to another. Potential delegates run in elections for the funds, and other fans vote and pay a small voting fee.

Geri Sullivan, our Guest of Honor, was a delegate in the TransAtlantic Fan Fund, and she represented North America by making a trip to Europe and visiting the 2019 Dublin Worldcon.

Voting fees and other donations are used to fund the winner’s trip to a prominent convention in the target area. One key way we raise funds are auctions of items of fannish interest that include fannish memorabilia, T-shirts, fun items from around the world, and donations by well-known authors of the opportunity for a character in a future book to be named after the winning fan.

Do you have something strange, wonderful, geeky, collectible, or unique to donate? Please drop it off at Program Operations in the La Jolla room at the Hilton Anaheim, and help support future fan fund travelers.

Join us on Sunday August 30 at 1:30 pm PDT for the Fan Fund Auction in the El Capitan room at the Hilton Anaheim to see what’s on offer and maybe contribute to this worthy fannish tradition.
