Welcome to LAcon V: The 84th World Science Fiction Convention!
We are thrilled to bring Worldcon back in the Los Angeles area for the first time in 20 years. Our committee has been hard at work for the last two years putting together what we hope will be a five-day extravaganza dedicated to the love of the speculative fiction genre.
That all starts with Opening Ceremonies. Join us for the official Opening Ceremonies of the convention, hosted by our Toastmaster, Ursula Vernon (aka T. Kingfisher). The Opening Ceremonies will introduce you to our Guests of Honor and Special Guests, entertain you, and celebrate the start of the convention. It’ll be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 7:30pm Pacific on the stage at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
But of course, all good things must come to an end. Our Closing Ceremonies will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 3:00pm Pacific on the Second Stage in the Hilton Anaheim. We’ll thank our Guests of Honor, Special Guests, our committee, and of course you, our beloved attendees, and close out out LAcon V by welcoming to the stage Montreal 2027: The 85th World Science Fiction Convention for the official hand off.
