Member Portal Instructions

The LAcon V Member Portal (portal.lacon.org) is our one-stop tool for all convention members, both in-person as well as virtual/online only.

Using the Portal is really easy, and we’ve prepared a guide below to help you if you get stuck.

Logging in

1. Go to portal.lacon.org
2. Log out if you are logged in as someone else.  If someone is already logged in, their name will appear in the top right. If this is not you, click the name and select “Log out”.
3. Enter your email address or username (see “Should I use my email or username?” below)
4. Enter your password; this will be the one you picked when activating your account.
5. Check your permissions.  You may see a screen asking you to confirm you are okay with the application receiving certain permissions. See “Application permissions” below for more information.
6. Click “Continue”.  You should now see your name appear in the top right of the Virtual Convention Portal.

Should I use my email or username?

When logging in, you will be asked to enter your email address or username. If you are the only member who registered with that email address, you can use either your username or that email.

If you are sharing your email address with another member, you will both need to use your usernames. This is so we know which one of you is logging in. You will find your username in the email inviting you to activate your account (see “Forgot your username?” below).

Forgot your password?

1. Go to portal.lacon.org
2. Click “Log in”
3. Enter your username (see “Forgot your username?” below if you cannot remember it).
4. Check your email.  You should receive an email from noreply@lacon.org with the subject “LAcon Virtual Convention Password Recovery”.
5. Click “Reset Password”
6. Click “Continue”
7. Pick a new password.  Your password must be at least 8 characters long. It must not be a commonly used password such as “password123”.
8. Click “Continue”.  You should now see a screen inviting you to log in to LAcon V. See “Logging in” above for more information.

Forgot your username?

Your username is your registration id. For example, 39456439. You can find it in the email inviting you to create your LAcon V account. The email will be from virtual-support@lacon.org with the subject “LAcon Virtual Convention Access”.

If you can’t find the email, then contact virtual-support@lacon.org with as much information about your membership as possible and we will be able to look up and find your username for you.

Is this you?

If you click on the “Activate your Account” button while someone is already logged in, you may see a screen asking you to confirm whether the person currently logged in is you or not.

If it is you, then you have already activated your account and do not need to do anything further. You can click “Yes, this is me” to go to the Virtual Convention Portal.

If it is not you, then click “No, log them out”. You will then need to click the “Activate your Account” button in the email again to start activating your account.

Application permissions

When you log in, you may be asked to grant an application access to some information about you. The application needs this information to work as intended.

We know that some people may not want their information shared with third parties. To help provide transparency, the list below shows all the applications that use the LAcon V unified log in, and indicates whether they are:

• Owned, hosted and operated by LAcon V, meaning your data remains entirely within LAcon V; or
• Operated by a third-party, meaning only the necessary information for the application to function will be shared with that provider.
