The following is a complete guide to registration for LAcon V: to purchase a membership, or to upgrade or convert an existing pre-support membership.  Please review the individual sections on “New Registration” or “Upgrades & Conversions” depending on your situation.

LAcon V offers a variety of different options for attendance in, and participation in, the 84th World Science Fiction Convention, from general admission to virtual (online) attendance, as well as the ability to vote in site selection for the 2028 Worldcon and the 2026 Hugo Awards, even without actually attending the event.  Voting rights are granted with membership in the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) for the period of the event.

The following chart features our current registration rates for LAcon V. Our Full Attending Adult membership will increase in price on 15 June 2025; the other rates will remain unchanged for now.

New Registration

Full Attending Membership

This is our “general admission” option and is the standard selection for anyone wishing to attend the convention in person.  This option includes an Attendance Membership, permitting entry into LAcon V, as well as WSFS Membership for this event, which permits you to vote in 2028 site selection and for the 2026 Hugo Awards.  We do permit transferring the in-person attendance part of this membership to another person if you cannot attend; however, the WSFS Membership portion granted with this status is non-transferrable.

Full attending membership has multiple levels at different price points: $200 for adults (age 25+ at the time of the event), $125 for young adults (ages 18-24), $100 for teens (ages 13-17); and $50 for children (ages 6-12).  Children age 5 and younger are admitted free, but only with the purchase of an adult registration; we also require them to be registered, no matter the age (select the “kid in tow” option), as we need to gauge interest in child care services.  In addition, we offer a special $175 rate for adults (age 25+) who are attending their very first Worldcon… this is on the honor system, so please be courteous.

WSFS-Only Membership

This option grants you a WSFS Membership for the duration of the convention; it gives you the right to nominate and vote in the 2026 Hugo Awards, and participate in the 2028 site selection process.  This does not grant in-person admission to the convention.  This option is not transferrable to anyone else.

Virtual (Online) Membership

Available for purchase beginning in 2026. This will allow you to attend the convention virtually, experiencing all offered programming that is offered online, but does not permit attending in person.  It also includes a WSFS Membership for the event, allowing you to vote for 2028 site selection and the Hugo Awards, both remotely.  We permit transferring the online portion of this membership to another person; however, the WSFS Membership portion granted with this status is non-transferrable.

Single-Day Membership

Available for purchase beginning in 2026.  This will allow you to attend the convention in person (or for multiple days, if you purchase tickets for each day you wish to attend).  However, this option does not include a WSFS Membership, so you do not have voting rights for either site selection or the Hugo Awards.

Registration Installment Plan

We are happy to offer an installment plan for purchasing memberships to the convention! This pay-over-time service will add convenience for prospective members, while striving to make the process as easy as possible.

Payment plan costs are locked in based upon the date you contact us via our Installment Plan email address; for example, starting your payment plan on May 15, 2025 locks you into the rates as they existed on May 15.

To pay for your registration on our installment plan, the steps are very simple:

1. Purchase a $50 WSFS Membership through our registration system.  To do so, click on the Register for LAcon V button on this page, above or below this section. If you have already purchased a WSFS membership, skip to the next step.
2. Send an email to installments@lacon.org stating that you wish to join the installment plan. You must include either a copy of your registration receipt, or the registration ID number from your receipt.  If you are unable to locate your receipt or ID, contact registration@lacon.org and let us know.
3. Monthly invoices for $25 will be sent to you via Square each month, until you have paid in full.

Once your registration is paid in full, a Full Membership confirmation email will be sent to you!

Note: installment plans must be paid in full by May 1, 2026; there are no exceptions!

Upgrades & Conversions

We are dealing with upgrades and conversions, including converting our Voyager pre-supporters to full attending members, as well as offering membership upgrade options to Navigator pre-supporters, and people who voted in site selection in Glasgow but did not pre-support us.

If you have not yet been upgraded please contact us at upgrades@lacon.org so we can take care of you.

For Reference: Info for Pre-Supporters

The following is information that was on the LA in 2026 website during our bidding process, for reference by our pre-supporters:

• $20: Pathfinder: We are grateful for your donation and the assistance you have provided. Thank you.
• $150: Navigator: If you vote and support us at the Navigator Level, you will automatically receive an Adult Attending Membership should we win. If we win and you did not vote, you will have a limited time to buy a WSFS membership from our Worldcon.  At that time, we will give you an Adult Attending Membership for free.  If you have not converted by the deadline, you will receive a Virtual Membership and a WSFS Membership to the convention.
• $300: Voyager: Supporting us at this level, you will automatically receive an Adult Attending Membership and a WSFS Membership, should we win.  You have also earned a few surprises, but those are planned in the future and have yet to arrive here in the past.
