A Signing of Ice and Fire
LAcon V is off to an amazing start! The schedule is packed full but we’ve managed to squeeze in a very special signing from George R. R. Martin on Friday at noon in the Autograph area of the ACC North (the Pedestrian Bridge). He will sign two books per person. This is not on the program, so you heard it here first! If you did not bring your George R.R. books, there are plenty of dealers in the dealers’ room who can help.

Volunteers Urgently Needed!
Worldcons work thanks to the help of hundreds of volunteers.Your help is urgently needed. Volunteering is one of the best ways to see the convention and make new lifelong friends. There are openings for help with the concert, the art show, the teen lounge, and many more areas. Visit the volunteer desk on the second floor of the Hilton to volunteer to help the convention. Even a couple of hours can make a big difference.
Food Trucks Redux
Where are the food trucks? They are outdoors, in the plaza between the theater and the ACC North entrance on floor 2. The Barcelona On the Go food truck is right by the entrance, the Rolling Sushi and Cali Delights were a bit further up, but well before the road.
I ate at the Barcelona truck and had their Barcelona Paella Bowl. It had four large grilled shrimp, some chicken shavings, veggies (onions and peppers), and lots of rice for about $20 including tax. This was comparable to the restaurants in the food court, reasonable for convention center prices. The shrimp was the best part, big and juicy, The chicken portion was skimpy but tasty. There was plenty of rice. Should I go back there later this week, I’d try their salad wrap or maybe their steak and fries.
Side note: our website editor says he had a yummy teriyaki bowl from the Rolling Sushi truck this evening and it was delicious, and the service was quick and very friendly!
Get a Great Deal in the Dealers Room

Many of you are writers. Here’s a chance to show you have the Write Stuff (or the Art Stuff) and give yourself a bit of name recognition.
