Everyone who works on LAcon V is a volunteer. The World Science Fiction Convention is 100% volunteer-run by fans for fans. It is a rewarding experience, whether working before, during or after the convention.
Over 600 people have volunteered to give their time and creativity to this convention and it is greatly appreciated.
We are coming up to the finish line and we would love to have more volunteers both in person and in the virtual world. Specifically we are in need of the following; reach out to the emails noted below if you would like to help.
- Move In/Move Out needs assistance on August 25-27 and after the convention; reach out to volunteer@lacon.org if you’d like to help.
- Our Virtual Program team needs assistance during the convention; please email virtual@lacon.org for more information.
For volunteering time in person, when you have time between panels and events, you can stop at the volunteer desks. During and immediately before the convention you can volunteer for a few hours or as much time as you care to offer.
Will I get a free membership for volunteering?
Everyone attending LAcon V, including volunteers, needs to purchase an attending membership prior to the beginning of the convention. Some prior Worldcons have offered reimbursements to volunteers after the convention. Any related policy will be posted once established.
