The Fuzzy Pink Papers is the daily newsletter of LAcon V, the 84th World Science Fiction Convention. Edited by Sam Lubell and published throughout the convention. Reminder: The Hugo Awards
A second reminder: the Hugo Awards ceremony will be held tonight! Join us on Sunday at 8:00pm Pacific on the stage at the Anaheim Convention Center’s Arena. Get there early for a good seat!
The Hugo Awards will also be live streamed online (including on the convention’s YouTube page). The LAcon V website will be live blogging the winners of the Hugo, Lodestar and Astounding Awards as each award is presented, so even if you cannot attend or participate, winner announcements will happen in real time. Join us at lacon.org/2026hugos for all the fun!
Magical Masquerade Results
LAcon V is proud of everyone who participated in Saturday Night’s Masquerade. There were so many great costumes and it is clear that a lot of workmanship went into producing them. Here are the LAcon V masquerade winners:

Program Updates
Guests of Honor Dr. Anita Sengupta and Ronald D. Moore are both sorry to announce that they will no longer be able to be at the convention on Monday due to unexpected work commitments. Therefore the From Storytelling to Spaceflight and Back Again panel will now consist of Bill Higgins and our special guest Tracy Drain, and the Sidewise Awards will be presented by former judge Olav Rokne.
We’ve added an extra autographing for Larry Niven. It’s on Monday at 10:30am on the Pedestrian Bridge.
Moving Merchandise
The LAcon swag table has been moved. We are now located beside the 501st legion near the entrance to the art show! Some merchandise has already sold out so go there quickly for best selection.
“My First Worldcon” Ribbons
Volunteers Team Updates
The Volunteers Team is excited to announce that we will be raffling off a Fuzzy plushie donated by our very own convention chair, Joyce Lloyd. The drawing will take place on Monday at 10:15 AM at the ACC North, outside room 262C. Volunteers must be present for this drawing (sorry).
Throughout the day on Monday (9:00am to 4:00pm), LAcon V volunteers may come to the volunteers desk to pick up their Rewards! A Reward is granted for 2 hours of volunteering, and a second Reward for 10 hours of service (for a total of 2 rewards). Note, winning the Fuzzy counts for the 10 hour reward, so if you want to enter the raffle, please do not claim your 10 hour reward ahead of time.
Volunteers are still needed at the end of con. We will be looking for volunteers to help with tear down starting around 2:30pm! Since the tear down will continue after the Rewards are closed, come chat with us. If you are a NEW volunteer, come by before we close to sign up, and we will figure out what prizes you can earn. All teardown hours are worth 50% bonus hours!

From the Not So Silent Tower
After a workshop on singing rounds on Sunday morning, the group wandered together singing in the Hilton lobby. “Jubilate Deo, Hallelujah.”

Often at cons, films are promoted by showing previews. How come there are no previews so close to the studios?
When is an “END of Line” sign not an “End of Line” sign? When the autograph line goes behind the wall.
No amount of green magic will help Christina Wozney stay warm in a Hilton filk concert room that inspires many more layers of jackets.

Fact: The Sun is non-binary.
The power of the dragon on Kate Lovekin’s shirt attracted Maleficent and Gaston came along for the ride. He was confused by all the readers gathering at the Hilton.

Party Troopers
If you had or are having trouble finding a room party on the 5th floor, you’re not alone ‐ a member of con staff missed her group’s own sponsored party last night! The trick is that many room parties have set up their spaces backwards – primary access is through the glass doors opening onto the central outdoor space on the Lanai Deck. (This makes a lot of sense space-wise, as there’s plenty of room to socialize and less crowded conditions than indoors – but much of the signage points at individual room #s, which most of us look for along the inside halls.)

Spurious Rumors Department
There are rumors that Fuzzy Pink has a disreputable cousin Scuzzy Fink with his own hoaxzine. Fuzzy, and the Fuzzy Pink Papers claim no official knowledge of connection with any such being and publication.
